In September 2026, MIYAWAKI Inc. obtained the SBTs for SMEs (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) *¹ certification for its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets from the SBTi *².
We are committed to proactively reducing CO₂ emissions toward the realization of a decarbonized society.

• *¹ SBT (Science Based Targets): Greenhouse gas emission reduction targets set by companies with a 5 to 10-year horizon, consistent with the level required by the Paris Agreement (which aims to limit global warming to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5°C).
  
  *² SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative): A joint initiative by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), CDP, WRI (World Resources Institute), and the UN Global Compact that supports and certifies companies in setting SBTs in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

■ Background of SBT Certification

Today, climate change has become an urgent global challenge, and we are entering an era where concrete environmental actions across the entire supply chain are strongly demanded, regardless of company size. While we have continuously contributed to the effective use of energy through our business, we have established scientific greenhouse gas emission reduction targets (SBT) aligned with the Paris Agreement to further fulfill our social responsibility in realizing a decarbonized society.

To remain a "partner aiming for sustainable growth together" for our business partners, we aim to further reduce our environmental impact and enhance our corporate value. As a concrete step, we have obtained international SBT certification.

 

■ Purpose of SBT Certification

Our primary purposes for obtaining SBT certification are as follows:

1. Contributing to a Sustainable Society and Demonstrating Our Stance to Stakeholders

By setting and executing mid-to-long-term emission reduction targets based on international standards and actively communicating our initiatives, we will clearly demonstrate our sincere commitment to solving environmental challenges to all our stakeholders.

2. Contributing to the Reduction of Customers' Supply Chain Emissions

As a provider of steam-related products, accurately tracking greenhouse gas emissions in our manufacturing processes and providing this information to our customers directly contributes to the calculation and reduction of their own supply chain emissions (Scope 3).

3. Building Sustainable Partnerships with Customers

By collaborating with our customers to promote decarbonization in order to achieve our set reduction targets, we will mitigate environmental risks across the entire supply chain and build long-lasting, reliable, and sustainable partnerships.

 

■ Initiatives for Our SBT Goals

To achieve our targets, we will specifically promote the following initiatives:

1. Decarbonization through Equipment Upgrades and Renewable Energy

We will introduce energy-saving equipment and phase out fossil fuels in conjunction with the modernization of our manufacturing base, alongside promoting the use of self-consumption solar power generation.

2. Transition to Eco-Friendly Company Vehicles

By FY2031, we will sequentially replace our company vehicles with hybrid vehicles (HV) and other eco-friendly options to reduce emissions associated with transportation.

3. Thorough Energy Management Across the Group

In addition to thorough power-saving efforts through the visualization of electricity usage, we will set targets for all domestic and international locations to tackle environmental impact reduction as a unified group.
